Library Book Haul #1

As a book blogger, I love to share with my readers the books that I buy but recently I have been trying to save money and not buy books. However, I did stop into my local Library and picked up a few books that I am excited to read and share with my readers. Also, I wanted to add a disclaimer that all of the synopsis are provided by Goodreads.

1. Nightschool, Vol. 1 The Weirn Books by Svetlana Chmakova: When her older sister, the new keeper of a school that teaches creatures of the night such as vampires and witches, disappears, Alex enrolls in the school to find out what happened to her.

I am usually not an anime/manga person but I saw this book and the storyline just kind of sucked me in. I hope that after reading this I might get more into manga/graphic novels.

2. If I Stay by Gayle Forman: Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it's the only one that matters.

I am sure everyone has seen the trailer for the film version of this book, which is a actually the reason I wanted to read this novel. I had never heard of the novel before seeing the movie trailer and I knew before I saw the movie I had to read the book.

3. The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton: In a quest to understand her peculiar disposition and a growing desire to fit in with her peers, sixteen-year old Ava ventures into the wider world, ill-prepared for what she might discover and naïve to the twisted motives of others.

The cover of this book caught my eye and the story was quite interesting so I decided to check it out. I think that the story will be mysterious and without being slow.

4. This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith: When teenage movie star Graham Larkin accidentally sends small town girl Ellie O'Neill an email about his pet pig, the two seventeen-year-olds strike up a witty and unforgettable correspondence, discussing everything under the sun, except for their names or backgrounds.

I was excited to see this book at the library because I have been wanting to read this since it was first release back in April. I am a big contemporary fan so I'm sure I'll love the story.

5. Across the Universe (Across the Universe #1)by Beth Revis: Seventeen-year-old Amy never could have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

I'm going to be completely honest and say that this book scares me a bit. I don't read much science fiction therefore it is out for my reading comfort zone. Although, I do love the cover and find the story to be very captivating.

I hope you guys in enjoyed this library haul; I am not sure if I will get to read all of the books I checked out but I will be doing review on the ones I read.

Spring Break Reads

Spring break is just around the corner, for some people this means soaking up the sun and sleeping in, but I'll be spending my break with some great books. I thought that I'd share some books I think will be great light beach reads for spring break.

1.  Beneath the Glitter by Elle and Blair Fowler: After their make-up and fashion videos went viral on YouTube, sisters Sophia and Ava London are thrust into the exclusive life of the Los Angeles elite.  Here fabulous parties, air kisses, paparazzi and hot guys all come with the scene. (source: GoodReads)

My Thoughts: I was shocked as to how much I loved this book. Although, the writing isn't the best and the plot can be cheesy at times I think it is a fun read.

2. Paper Towns by John Green: Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back into his life—dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge—he follows. After their all-nighter ends and a new day breaks, Q arrives at school to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has now become a mystery. (source: GoodReads)

My Thoughts: This book is a page turning novel that has mystery and deeper meaning about the places we live in. I do think that the book lags at times it is still wonderfully written and has an interesting story. A good read for those rainy spring days.

3. Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen: It’s been so long since Auden slept at night. Ever since her parents’ divorce—or since the fighting started. Now she has the chance to spend a carefree summer with her dad and his new family in the charming beach town where they live. (source: GoodReads)

My Thoughts: I listened to the audio version of this book because I just couldn't get into the story, which is a great tip if you are having trouble reading a book. However, I found the story to be very cute and lighthearted. I think this book, or any Sarah Dessen novel, is a beach bag must.

I hope that you enjoyed by top 3 spring break book picks. Let me know what you'll be reading during your break.
