Review: The Real Girl's Kitchen by Haylie Duff

Book: The Real Girl's Kitchen
Author: Haylie Duff
Genre: Cookbook

I am huge fan of the Duff sisters; we're talking the days of Lizzie McGuire. I'm also a lover of cooking and finding good tasting meals that are easy and quick to make. When I saw that Haylie Duff was releasing a cookbook I had to get it, which I did for Christmas 2013. Sadly, after look through the book I was disappointed in it. Now I'm not saying that the recipes aren't delicious in fact I can't comment on the taste of them at all become most of them didn't appeal to me. I am a very picky eater so recipes like "Raw Beet and Kale Salad," "Avocado, Prosciutto, and Radishes Tartine" and "Bagel and Lox with Jalapeno Cream Cheese" aren't exactly my taste.

Another issue I had with the cookbook was that most of the recipes seemed so simple and unoriginal. I don't want to pay $20 for a cookbook that tells me how to make smores and grilled chicken. However, there were a few ideas that I can't wait to try such as "Grape, Goat Cheese, and Rosemary Pizza" and "Mushroom and Herb Crostini."

I did find the tips and tools section of the book very helpful and interesting to read. Also, I found her style of making sun-dried tomatoes great since they are the only tomatoes I like and now can make them myself. Although, the recipes in this cookbook weren't for me I noticed that they are all relatively healthy so if you are adventurous in what you eat while staying on the lighter-side of things than I'd recommend this book. Nevertheless, I was disappointed in "The Real Girl's Kitchen" by Haylie Duff and wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't a gift.

Review: Delirium (Delirium #1) by Lauren Oliver

Book: Delirium (Delirium #1)
Author: Lauren Oliver
Genre: Dystopia Romance
Synopsis: Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't.
